Easiest DIY Halloween Costumes

Using clothes you actually own.

It’s October, which means my favorite holiday is creeping up on us. I think DIY costumes are always the way to go. You save money by using what you already have. It’s more sustainable than buying new products. And you’re not supporting companies that likely have racist costumes for sale.
But I see a lot of “Last Minute Costumes” that would either: require a lot of supplies you’re not likely to have at home, would take a lot of time to put together, or ruin the clothes you already have. Others require a prop that you would have to keep on hand for your costume to make sense, which I’m personally not a fan of.
So I’ve been thinking up a list of costumes, mostly of cartoon characters, that you can put together with clothes you already own.

Leela from Futurama

With a white tank top, black leggings, and mid calf boots you’re all set. Use a large silver bracelet and scrunchie to finish off the look.
Since Leela has bangs, simply pull your hair into a ponytail but leave some down to cover one eye.

Amy from Futurama

With a pink sweatsuit and boots you’ve got everything you need. Plus it’ll be comfy and warm which I love.

Bulma from Dragon Ball Z

This costume has a few parts but it’s so cute. The main component is a pink oversized tee belted at the waist.

Penny Proud from The Proud Family

Any character from The Proud Family makes an easy costume, but Penny is the star. With a white button up, pink sweater and red skirt you’re all set.

Roxanne from A Goofy Movie

A green shirt and high waisted jean shorts are all you need. But to really sell the look just part your hair on the side, and add a quick nose with makeup.

Debby Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys

Debby was the classic grunge girl, and with the 90’s back in full swing it’s easy to recreate her look. Ripped jeans, an orange crop top and oversized flannel. Add some dark lipstick and you’re good to go.

Spinelli from Recess

Another grunge girl who has a simple look. With a red dress, boots, leather jacket and orange beanie. Pigtails optional.

Daisy Duck

Steal her classic look with a white skirt or dress, a purple shirt, and a big pink bow.

The Kanker Sisters from Ed, Edd n Eddy

This would be a great and simple group costume.
Lee sports a red polkadot shirt with jeans and big red hair.
Marie wears a black tank top with green pants and short blue hair.
May has a grey shirt with red shorts and long blond hair.

Marceline from Adventure Time

Marceline has tons of iconic, but easy to recreate looks. All though she’s a little beat up I love her outfit from the Stakes arc. Just a grey top top and high waist jeans. Bonus tip: skip the body paint and mix in white and black eye shadow to your foundation to copy her grey skin.

Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time

PB also has tons of iconic looks, and really with an all pink outfit it’s easy to be her. But I like her outfit from Stakes too, just a stripey sweater and shorts, no crown needed. And for pink skin just mix in blush to your foundation.

Killua Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter

Killua’s most recognizable outfit is very simple. Dark turtleneck under a white v neck shirt, and grey shorts.

Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec

Leslie’s outfits usually consist of a grey pantsuit with a colorful button up. If you want your costume to be easier to understand just add a ‘Vote Knope’ button.

Billie Eilish

This costume will probably be popular this year, but it’s just so simple. To recreate her Bad Guy look all you need is a white polo, white shorts and a few chain necklaces. Add a fake nose bleed with lipstick for instant recognition.

Marina from the Electra Heart Era

This one is for the 2012 Tumblr kids. Marina had such a signature look for her Electra Heart album. With a pastel dress that has a 50’s silhouette, a how headband, and of course, wear your heart on your cheek.
